I am a social worker with a Master of Social Work degree and 25 years experience working with children, adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, families, and groups. I have worked in public and community organizations, and private practice. Organizations for which I have worked include Friends for Mental Health (West Island) and the MAB-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre.
As a counsellor, I draw on theoretical frameworks tailored to the needs and goals my clients identify. These include a systemic approach, a psychosocial approach, a solution-focused/goal-oriented approach, and cognitive behavioural therapy.
About my practice
I believe that people are resilient, and have the ability to grow and change.
I work with clients to help them improve their relationships, emotional well-being, and quality of life. I assist and collaborate with my clients in identifying clear and attainable goals, building on their strengths, bolstering their coping strategies, and improving their self-esteem.
I am caring, supportive, and respectful. I provide my clients with a non-judgmental, confidential, and safe environment in which to discuss their issues and concerns.
My greatest strength as a counsellor is my ability to connect with my clients in an empathetic manner and create a strong therapeutic relationship with them.
